Norwell Youth Football and Cheerleading 2010

Welcome to the 2010 season of Norwell Youth Football & Cheerleading. I am very pleased to welcome nearly 200 players and cheerleaders to our 2010 program. We look forward to working with your sons and daughters, and please be assured your kids are in the hands of dedicated, skilled and competent coaches.

On Saturday night September 11th we kick off our season as we head to Rockland Bulldog territory for our first games. Please take time to look over the schedule on the website. Our first home games will not be until October, and new this year all of our varsity home games will be night games under the lights.

Saturdays will be full days of football, with our junior varsity taking the field in the morning, and our varsity players returning late afternoon. Junior Varsity will enjoy the full complement of support that our varsity players’ experience, including the services of the Snack Bar, our favorite announcer, Ed Ross, and our cheerleaders will be performing at select junior varsity games as well. Our youngest players, the second grade Mighty Mites, will also compete on the big field.

Our second annual NYF&C golf tournament will take place at Pembroke County Club on Monday September 20th. This fundraiser was enormously successful last year and funded completely new uniforms that our players and cheerleaders wore with pride. It also gave the kids three very memorable awards banquets that included Super Bowl Champions jackets for our Schooners and Whalers players, numbered sweatshirts for the Clippers and cheer jackets for our cheerleaders. Please click on the Tournament link to sign-up.

Our ability to maintain this level of accomplishment hinges on volunteer support. The Snack Bar will be open day and night for all our home games and once varsity and junior varsity player rosters are determined, please contact Cyndi MacKinlay and sign up for snack bar or front gate shifts throughout the season. The chain gang also needs a few good hands. If this is your first year with the program, welcome, and I look forward to meeting you. To our returning families please make our new players and cheerleaders feel at home. On behalf of the Norwell Youth Football and Cheerleading Board here’s to a great 2010 season. See you on the field.
